What a city Constance could be today! Constance had once 27 City gates and towers - today are only three of them left. In the 19th Century, they fell victim to a pulling down, since the ramshackle buildings dangerous to the inhabitants of the city was, and neither money nor a positive attitude towards conservation were available - even to create more room for the railway. The debris of the demolition was used as gravel to fill up the "Stadtgarten" (park at the Lakeside). The picture above shows the floating ghost gates that are accusing this city because of this unbearable destruction...
